Aroideana Volume 44 Number 1 (June 30, 2021) is a special issue honoring the late Josef Bogner. It brings together five papers that span his lifelong impact on the Araceae: from a personal overview of aroid systematics history and his influence on paleobotany, to focused studies on Cryptocoryne, and the formal description of two new, eponymous species - Pseudohydrosme bogneri from Gabon and Urospatha bogneri from the Colombian Amazon. Edited by Peter C. Boyce, this issue reflects both historical context and cutting‑edge taxonomy inspired by Bogner’s work.
