Cyrtosperma: Swamp Giants of the Pacific

Cyrtosperma is a small genus of flowering Araceae native to Southeast Asia and Pacific islands, comprising robust, swamp-dwelling geophytes with creeping rhizomes and prickly petioles. Best known for the giant swamp taro (C. merkusii), these species bear bisexual inflorescences and have been refined taxonomically to a core group centered in New Guinea.
