Galantharum: Borneo’s Hidden Aroid Gem
Galantharum is a monotypic genus of flowering plants in the Araceae family, represented solely by Galantharum kishii, which is endemic to the lowland rainforests of Borneo. It was described in 2015 and is distinguished within the Hottarum clade by its unusual spadix morphology—featuring a straight terminating rostrum during pistillate anthesis and a strongly reflexed rostrum at staminate anthesis—and by its spathe limb that sheds shortly after flowering.
