Gonatopus: Tuberous African Aroids

Gonatopus is a genus of about five tuberous aroid species native to eastern and southeastern Africa. Closely related to Zamioculcas, these geophytes produce a solitary, often tripinnate leaf from a subglobose tuber, followed in spring by a reflexed spathe enclosing a spadix.
