Homalomena: Aromatic Understory Gems

Homalomena is a genus of flowering plants in the Araceae family, comprising around 160 evergreen, clump-forming perennial species native to tropical and subtropical Asia extending into the southwestern Pacific. These understory herbs bear heart-shaped or arrowhead leaves and produce tiny, food-rewarding inflorescences hidden within greenish spathes, with many species emitting a distinctive anise-like fragrance.
