Lysichiton: Temperate Marsh Lanterns
Lysichiton is a genus of two proto-aroid species known as skunk cabbages or swamp lanterns, native to temperate wetlands of northeast Asia and northwest North America. These plants bear bisexual flowers densely packed on a spadix enclosed by a hooded spathe and develop large leaves either concurrent with or following flowering, illustrating early-diverging aroid characteristics.
