Phymatarum: Borneo’s Rheophytic Aroid

Phymatarum is a monotypic genus of small evergreen rheophytic herbs in the Araceae family endemic to Borneo. It is distinguished by its creeping to decumbent stems, narrow coriaceous leaves ending in tubular mucros, and constricted spathes housing uniquely horned male flower thecae, adaptations for life on mud banks of tropical streams.
