Piptospatha: Rheophytic Aroid of Karst Streams

Piptospatha is a small genus of about ten obligate rheophytic species in the Araceae family, occurring along fast-flowing streams and waterfalls in lowland to lower montane perhumid forests of western Malesia. These plants bear cup-shaped spathes that shed limbs and form splash-cups, using water splashes to disperse their seeds.
