Protarum: Seychelles’ Unique Aroid Gem

Protarum is a monotypic genus within the Araceae family, containing only the species Protarum sechellarum. This plant is endemic to the Seychelles, where it grows on shaded forest floors and mossy leaf litter atop granitic outcrops, and it is classified in the subfamily Aroideae, tribe Colocasieae.
