Sauromatum: Hot-Scented Aroid Marvels

Sauromatum is a small genus of around nine tuberous flowering plants in the Araceae family, native to tropical Africa, Asia and the Arabian Peninsula. Its inflorescences last only a few hours, emit heat to disperse a fetid odor, and display diverse leaf morphologies that intrigue both novice gardeners and specialist botanists.
