Stenospermation: Tropical Epiphytes with White Spathes

Stenospermation is a genus of roughly 80 evergreen hemiepiphytic or terrestrial herbs in the Araceae family, native to Central and South America’s humid forests. Species typically bear oblong-elliptic leaves on geniculate petioles and produce solitary, often nodding white spathes that open broadly at anthesis. Their versatile growth—ranging from forest-floor terrestrials to canopy epiphytes - offers valuable insight into aroid ecology and morphology.
