NEWSLETTER VOL. 41 NO. 3

A Quarterly Publication for Members of the International Aroid Society

The August 2019 issue (Vol 41 No 3) of the IAS Newsletter opens with a detailed account of a February 2019 field expedition to document Monstera species in southern Mexico by Marco Cedeño‑Fonseca . It then reports that Cedeño has been awarded a scholarship from the Society of Systematic Biologists to support further Monstera research in Central America . Pedro Díaz Jiménez contributes a study on the reproductive biology of Monstera and Spathiphyllum in Costa Rica. The newsletter pays tribute to Dewey Fisk, a pioneering IAS president and editor, following his death at age 87. Finally, it previews the 42nd Annual Show and Sale at Fairchild Tropical Garden in Miami and includes society news and officer listings.
