Spathicarpa: Fusion of Tropical Aroids

Spathicarpa is a small genus of perennial Aroids comprising four species native to tropical South America. It is distinguished by its spadix being completely fused to the surrounding spathe, a feature that gives its tribe Spathicarpeae its name and links it closely to related genera such as Spathantheum.
