Wolffiella: Microscopic Duckweeds

Members of Wolffiella are among the world’s smallest flowering plants, free-floating aquatic aroids commonly called duckweeds that lack roots and use a keel to stay oriented in water. They are native to the Americas, Africa, and the Arabian Peninsula, and measure just 2–10 mm in width, thriving in calm freshwater habitats.
