Spirodela: Free-Floating Duckweed Pioneers

Spirodela is a small genus of free-floating aquatic aroids commonly called duckweeds, comprising about seven species with flat, leaf-like fronds bearing multiple rootlets. These plants occur worldwide in nutrient-rich freshwater habitats and have drawn interest for applications in wastewater treatment, bioenergy research, and genomic studies.
